Dr. Barbara Gluckin Headshot

Meet Dr. Gluckin

Hello! If you are here, it likely means you are getting ready to make some positive changes in your life and wondering if I would be a good fit for you, so let me tell you a little about myself.

I have my doctoral degree in clinical psychology and over 25 years of experience providing psychotherapy for adults and older adults. Because I do not treat children or adolescents, this has allowed me to develop a true specialty in working with adults of all ages.

I have an eclectic, practical approach using techniques from insight oriented/psychodynamic therapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, relaxation training, psychoeducation, assertiveness training, coping skills training and social skills training. In my experience, one size does not fit all and it helps to be able to offer different strategies for different people.

I enjoy helping adults figure out how to move forward and feel good when life is not what was expected or wanted. When things feel upside down, I strive to help people get back on an even keel.

I have spent the last 2 and half decades addressing depression and anxiety stemming from typical daily life issues such as loneliness, life transitions, grief, job stress, relationship issues, low self-confidence, family conflict, etc. However, I also  have an extensive background in medical rehabilitation psychology and geropsychology, improving coping with acute medical crises and chronic health challenges, caregiver burdens and end of life issues.

Member of the New York State Psychological Association

Currently Serving as Deputy Chair of their Insurance Committee
